hyperactivity

i am so hyper right now and it's 11 o'clock. and i have to work tomorrow. all day. whatttt am i doing.

anyways, i'm moving this saturday!! i'm so excited! i'm just moving 15 minutes away from where i am now, but i love new beginnings. i'll have to post pictures of my cute new apartment once it's all set up. it's a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, and for some reason, i am super excited about having my own bathroom. i think just so i can decorate it to my heart's desire. it's going to have a yellow and light blue color theme. the shower curtain is so cute! by the way, marshall's has really good shower curtains and bath rugs for great prices. the rug i bought there was only $7.99, and the shower curtain was $14.99. i could easily spend a whole paycheck in that store. they have the cutest stuff.

i feel like i have SO much packing to do. i packed up some stuff in our living room today, but haven't really touched my bedroom aside from packing 1 box of books (and i still have more books). i have so much junk, it's ridiculous. i have been sifting through my things, trying to weed out the unfortunate goodwill-destined things. it just seems like a never-ending battle. and being an artist, i have all sorts of supplies that i don't really want to get rid of. i have paints, pencils, sketchbooks, random stuff i have project ideas for. those ideas though have a hard time coming to fruition... does anyone else have that problem? i think i have very poor motivation and time-management skills. i need to get back into oil painting - painting is very therapeutic and relaxing.

time to get that beauty rest! goodnight lovelies!

lewis and chicken sausage

it feels really good to be back on the blog, writing. it really does. i used to write a lot more than i do now - in high school and college i kept journals (not everyday, but every now and then), wrote poems, and even took a children's literature class. in that class i wrote a short story; i've thought about going back and adding to it. might be fun to dust it off.

i started this watercolor painting last week and finished it today. the black pattern you see on it was created using a rubber stamp that i carved. there is a c.s. lewis quote on the painting as well.
taken with my crummy camera phone
here's the quote that i wrote on it:
"Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it."
-C.S. Lewis

carving a rubber stamp is so much fun! the rubber blocks are sold at your local art supply store, and they are relatively inexpensive; i believe under $3 for a 2x3 block (rough estimate). i prefer the rubber blocks to laminate just because they are softer and so much easier to work with. i think a hand carved stamp can just bring so much life into a piece of artwork. it adds such a unique touch.

tonight i made something different for dinner. i'm the type of person who finds the one thing i like to eat and sticks to it religiously. when it comes to food, i'm not very adventurous. i'm trying to branch out a little - bear with me. ;)
anyways, i cut up some zucchini, onion, tossed it in a frying pan with a little olive oil and let that cook for a few minutes. i then cut up some apple & chardonnay (i think that's what it was called) chicken sausage (from my trusty trader joe's <3 that place) and added that in, and let it cook. i had that with some leftover asparagus and a salad with fresh lettuce from the farmer's market. it was yummy! i was pleasantly surprised with the combination of the zucchini and the sausage. very good. :)

i'm off to get ready for bed. going to the lake tomorrow! yay!

everyone have a great july 4th! i thank God that we live in a free country.
