it will defeat you, then teach you to get back up

Currently listening to: Jack Johnson, "Hope"
His music always seems to put a smile on my face. :)

Good thing: I'm feeling productive (semi-rare), & really crafty (not rare).
Bad thing: It's 11:38 at night. I'm a night owl, fo sho.

On to the meat of it.
Warning: I'm about to brag about Sir Boyfriend.
So, last Wednesday was my b-day, the big 21. Unfortunately, Sir Boyfriend is not on the same continent as me currently. So he sent me a few presents, from NeverNeverLand (aka the Middle East). He put so much thought & effort into it, it's so sweet. Ok, I know you're begging to know what I got. haha Juuust kidding, no one reads this. But anyways, here we go.

I opened up the package to see this beautiful, incredibly detailed carved wooden box. Seriously, it's amazing. He gave me this larger box, and then there's an identical smaller one. Both of them have the keys to lock/unlock them - old fashioned - so cool! These are authentic handmade from the Middle East (I'm not sure if I can say what country, so I'll just say Middle East for now). I opened up the bigger box to find these:
Handmade silver & turquoise earrings! The stone is a little darker in person, but you get the point. Apparently the turquoise is from Pakistan (not where he bought them though). I love these - one of my favorite colors.
In the smaller box, was this:

Isn't that beautiful? They're Star Sapphires; in normal lighting conditions, they just look like navy blue stones. But when you shine a light on them, out pop these beautiful stars! It's so pretty. And the background is one of the scarves he also sent me (also from the Middle East).
Yeah, he's pretty much the best guy ever. To put all this thought and effort into my present, to make my birthday special even when he wasn't there. Oh, and what tops it all is the most romantic, best letter ever that came with the bday package. I would quote part of it for my audience, but I don't know if he would appreciate that. ;)

He spoils me, but I reassure you I'm not a spoiled brat.
I just have an awesome boyfriend.

And...on to research crafty things on the Internet, and stay up all night. hehe

By the way, Etsy.com freakin' rocks.

And so does Ornamentea. I made this necklace from trinkets & doodads (i.e. jewelry supplies) I bought there.
Want to buy it? Go here: my Etsy.

Mucho amor to people that actually read this! Which is probably all 2 of you :) haha

  2. thanks; i love stuff from other countries. i kind of think other cultures are way more interesting than ours. but then again, our freedoms surpass those of any other country/culture.
    he's definitely a keeper! ;)
