Mission Accomplished!!

My van Gogh inspired painting, done for my sister. The picture on the left is a picture she took of the van Gogh print she liked at Target, and the picture on the right is my interpretation of it. Can't do it exactly like the Master himself, so it has my own little touch.

Here's a full view of the painting. I used acrylics on canvas. It's been in progress for awhile, but my guesstimate for how long it took is about ...uh, 7-8 hours perhaps? Not really sure. And man, there are a lot of layers on this thing! haha I guess I never realized that most paintings probably have to be put down in layers (i.e. very time-consuming). I've never really done a painting like this before, on my own time, outside of a class, so I'm really happy with it.

So tell me...
What do y'all think??
Criticisms are welcome too!

  1. I think it's beautiful! That's such lovely work. I was amazed at how much time even a simple painting actually takes when I did one recently.

  4. This is so gorgeous! I want to do a recreation painting too! In the past, I've done van Gogh's cypress trees with just oil...took almost a year to dry because of the layers
